Docs2Many
Supported formats explained
Docs2Many reads Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and image files — 31 file extensions in all — and converts them to more than 20 output formats. Here is exactly what converts to what.
Files you can add
Add any file with one of these extensions to the queue, individually or by scanning a folder. Docs2Many sorts each one into one of five families.
| Family | File types you can add |
|---|---|
| Word | .doc · .docx · .docm · .dotx · .dotm · .rtf · .html · .htm · .md · .markdown · .txt |
| Excel | .xls · .xlsx · .xlsm · .xlsb · .xltx · .xltm · .csv · .tsv |
| PowerPoint | .pptx · .pptm · .potx · .potm |
| Image | .png · .jpg · .jpeg · .bmp · .gif · .tif · .tiff |
What converts to what
The destinations on offer depend on the source family. Every family can reach PDF, PDF/A, PNG and JPEG; each also has its own native set after the dot.
| Source family | Can convert to |
|---|---|
| Word | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · Word (DOCX), Word 97–2003 (DOC), Rich Text (RTF), Word XML (WordML), Web Page (HTML), Markdown (MD), Plain Text (TXT), EPUB |
| Excel | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · Excel (XLSX), Excel 97–2003 (XLS), CSV, TSV, Web Page (HTML) |
| PowerPoint | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · PowerPoint (PPTX), PowerPoint Macro (PPTM), PowerPoint Template (POTX, POTM) |
| PDF/A, PNG, JPEG (a plain PDF→PDF would do nothing, so it is not offered) | |
| Image | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG |
Text, web & data files
Plain text, web pages, Markdown, Rich Text and comma/tab data are first-class inputs in their own right. Here is where each one can go — turn a web page into an EPUB, a text file into a formatted Word document, or a batch of CSV files into spreadsheets.
| Input | Converts to |
|---|---|
| Plain Text (.txt) | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · DOCX, DOC, RTF, WordML, HTML, Markdown (MD), EPUB |
| Web Page (.html, .htm) | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · DOCX, DOC, RTF, WordML, Markdown (MD), Plain Text (TXT), EPUB |
| Markdown (.md, .markdown) | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · DOCX, DOC, RTF, WordML, Web Page (HTML), Plain Text (TXT), EPUB |
| Rich Text (.rtf) | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · DOCX, DOC, WordML, Web Page (HTML), Markdown (MD), Plain Text (TXT), EPUB |
| CSV (.csv) | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · Excel (XLSX), Excel 97–2003 (XLS), TSV, Web Page (HTML) |
| TSV (.tsv) | PDF, PDF/A, PNG, JPEG · Excel (XLSX), Excel 97–2003 (XLS), CSV, Web Page (HTML) |
Output-only formats
A few formats are offered only as destinations — you can convert to them, but not add them as a source.
| Format | Extension | Made from |
|---|---|---|
| EPUB | .epub | Any Word-family document (Word, RTF, HTML, Markdown, Plain Text) |
| Word XML (WordML) | .xml | Any Word-family document |
| PDF/A (archival PDF) | Any document or image, including an existing PDF |
Good to know
- Image outputs are one file per page. PNG and JPEG targets render one image per page, sheet or slide — for example
Report-1.png,Report-2.png. Office files reach images through an internal Office→PDF→image step. - PDF→PDF is not offered. It would do nothing — but PDF→PDF/A is available to produce an archival copy.
- Signatures do not carry over. A signed document converts normally, but the output is unsigned and the log notes it.
- Everything runs locally. Files are converted on your own PC — nothing is uploaded.
