Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 May 2026
This policy explains what personal information Classic Desktop collects via this website, why we collect it, and what your rights are under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Classic Desktop is operated by a sole trader registered in the United Kingdom. The data controller for this website is the same individual. You can contact us via the contact form.
What information we collect
The only personal information we actively collect is whatever you send us through the contact form: your name, email address, the products you have asked to be notified about, and your message. We do not run web analytics. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not embed third-party scripts that profile visitors.
Our hosting provider generates standard server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, requested page, timestamp) for operational and security purposes. These logs are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry or bug report
- If you opt in to the notify list, to email you once when each chosen product launches on the Microsoft Store
- To keep a record of correspondence in case of a follow-up
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
Lawful basis
- Consent — for adding you to the notify list. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for responding to support enquiries and bug reports.
How long we keep it
- Notify list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Support correspondence: typically 24 months from the last message, then deleted.
- Server logs: retained by our hosting provider per their default policy (typically a few weeks).
Cookies
We set a small number of strictly necessary cookies. See our Cookies Policy for the full list.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your personal data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to processing; ask for a portable copy; withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, send a message via the contact form. We will respond within one month.
If you believe we are mishandling your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
We will update the date at the top of this page when we make changes. For significant changes affecting how we use your data, we will notify people on the notify list by email.
